Stephen Harper's Conservative Government has been a dismal failure and this is even more so when it comes to children's, women's and anti-racism programs. There are now more "guest workers" in Canada, many earning sub-standard wages and all to the benefit of employers who do not want to pay a living wage to people in Canada. There is nothing wrong with "guest workers" themselves, but they should be allowed to apply for citizenship and payed the same rate and have the same benefit as Canadians. The same is true of the "brain drain". Education should be a right of Canadians and the present government is relying on immigration to meet the needs of the skilled and professional trades. There is nothing wrong with immigration and it should be encouraged but not at the expense of Canadian training and education. It was Stephen Harper who told Canadians during the last election campaign that Canada would not suffer from the world economic crisis and that there would be no deficit. Now he is offering 35 billion in deficit spending to get re-elected. And you can bet that those billions will not go for education or training. They will go to welfare business and friends of the Conservatives. Welfare to the already rich and poverty to working class Canadians.
