One Dead After an Overnight Stabbing in Surrey – Media Correction
Surrey: The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) would like to clarify a few points made by a media outlet on a broadcast released on March 23, 2012.
In regards to the stabbing death of Jan KORINTH it has been inaccurately reported by the media that the deceased was targeted and attacked at his own residence. As previously stated in a media release, this appears to be a break and enter of some kind, resulting in an altercation where Mr. Korinth sustained an injury which ultimately resulted in his death.
The residence where this altercation ensued was not Mr. Korinth’s residence.
IHIT is concerned that misinformation regarding the circumstances of the homicide could be inflammatory and have a negative impact on public safety and the ongoing investigation.
Although the motive for the altercation is still being investigated there is nothing to suggest it was motivated by any issues relating to Hate Crime or Mr. Korinth’s membership to Blood and Honour.
